Shared Vs. Dedicated Web Hosting
Filed under: shared web hosting; No CommentsShared web hosting refers to using the same IP address as other web sites. While your web sites will all be on different “partitions” of the same IP address, there is the minor risk of complications. On your typical shared server, there may be 100 or more different websites. Do not worry about confidentiality however. The web sites will be set up in such a way that only you have access to your files and vice versa.
Be careful if your web hosting company puts too many sites on the same server, it will slow down all of the web sites at that IP address. In some cases, your web site might not even be able to load at all. As you probably guessed, shared web hosting is cheaper than having a dedicated IP address. Another down side of shared web hosting can be that the server must be configured generically for all 100 or so different users. For the average Joe, this isn’t going to affect you though.
Some feel, however, that sharing an IP address may have a negative effect when it comes to search engine rankings. If for example, one of the other sites sharing your IP address were blacklisted for sending out spam, they feel there is a chance that every site sharing that IP address could be effected. No evidence really exists to prove this theory though.
If you decide to go with a dedicated web host, you will basically lease an entire server for yourself. This gives you more flexibility in a sense. You can have full control of the server this way to use it however you like. For example, you can choose whatever operating system or hardware you like. The administration of the actual server itself (housing, air conditioning, etc) can typically be provided by your web hosting company. Dedicated servers are typically a much higher expense than shared servers. Although it is cheaper than buying the equipment and housing it yourself, it is still a major investment.
For the average small business owner or even mid-size corporation, the cost of having a dedicated server are not worth it. If you own and operate a number of big web sites and you are particular about how they are administered, perhaps this is an investment you want to make. You can put all of your web sites on the one server and have total control of them.

Many webmasters are looking to take advantage of affordable hosting web services, which lowers the cost to their bottom line. With web hosting prices at an all time low, more individuals than ever before are trying their hands at their own website. The increase of potential webmasters has also prompted additional affordable hosting web companies to spring up, offering their services. Subsequently, how can you choose between the sea of affordable hosting web options?
When you are looking to join the affordable hosting web, you have to keep your eyes and ears open. Finding the right web hosting provider takes some research. To fail in this area could mean a great deal of headache in the months to come. With this article, we’ll show you how to make the right choice – with no long-term regrets.
Reliability with Affordable Hosting Web
One of the most important things you should concentrate on when finding a web provider is their track record when it comes to reliability and uptime. Many of the best sites offer what’s called “uptime guarantees.” This simply means that the site will give you your monthly hosting fee back if they don’t meet the prescribed percentage of uptime they set forth in the contract (usually 99.9%).
What is uptime? It is nothing more or less than the amount of time your site is up and running, as opposed to down and unavailable. No web hosting provider will promise 100% uptime, as there must be small windows of downtime to allow for upgrades to the server and maintenance. Thankfully, these small windows should not affect your website traffic or success in any meaningful way.
The Affordable Hosting Web: When Is It Too Good To Be True?
One problem in today’s market is that companies are offering deals that don’t quite add up. Many “affordable” hosting web companies take advantage of the average user’s ignorance in the matters of bandwidth – proceeding to offer the moon and the stars for an unbelievably low price.
Be very wary of any hosting company that is offering bandwidth deals that seem too good to be true against the competition. These “affordable” hosting web companies usually will not come through with what’s promised. You should be especially wary of those offering unlimited bandwidth, as that is nearly impossible to guarantee.
What’s More Affordable Than Free?
Many webmasters choose to go with free web hosting. This is a nice option if you want to create a small personal page, but it is not for serious web entrepreneurs. You will typically be faced with pop-up advertisements, a strange URL, and potential malware that infects your site.
Affordable Hosting Web Customer Service
Customer service is critical in the area of affordable web hosting. See that your web hosting provider offers telephonic support, as well as support through email and chat. The best ones give you support availability 24/7 – and the extra attention may well be worth the additional cost.
Indeed, there are many affordable hosting web companies that offer you stellar service. The key is to sort through the saturated industry, read reviews, and find the affordable hosting web services that are indeed worth your time and money.
